Amboseli National Park is one of the best destinations to get up close to free-ranging elephants.  Observation Hill provides spectacular views of Mt. Kilimanjaro along with the ability to over look the entire park, most notably the swamps that attract large herds of Elephant, Buffalo, Hippos, and some 600 species of birds.

The year round wildlife includes Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Buffalo, Rhino, Elephant, Giraffe, Zebra, Crocodile, Mongoose, Hyrax, Dik-Dik, Lesser Kudu, Nocturnal Porcupine, and the elusive Wild Dog among others.

The 390 sq. miles that make up Amboseli National park can be found 150 miles from Nairobi along Kenya’s Southern border.  The reserve is accessible by car (2 to 3 hours from Nairobi) or by scheduled flights from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport.

Comprising of 30 Plantation Houses – inclusive of 12 Plantation Suites – that radiate out into the evergreen coffee fields, Arusha Coffee Lodge has been designed around the original landowner’s home that dates back to the early 1900’s.

Arusha Coffee Lodge was an unexpected pleasure.  It was the perfect place to relax and recover from the internationl flight before going on Safari the next day.    ---      Richard Jones, October 2012

Since this was our first trip to Africa we did not know what to expect.  The gardens are amazing and the view of Mt. Meru was a surprise when we saw it in the morning.  As this was the first place we stayed, we felt that we had paid a bit too much for the room, but after seeing other places along our Safari we can now say that the Arusha Coffee lodge is a good value for a comfortable, clean, and relaxing environment.      ---      Debbie and John Hardy, May 2012
