Nyamyumba Hot Springs

Located near the town of Gisenyi along the shores of Lake Kivu, the Nyamyumba Hot Springs are locally known to stimulate the immune system.  While Rwanda has actively worked to build tourism, hot springs remain invisible on the country’s tourism site map.  Thus, the magical springs are not visited by many tourists.

A small volunteer group of elderly men, that attribute their long lives to the waters of the springs, take care of the site.  However, as Rwanda looks to expand its tourism base, it is likely that this site will soon be developed and promoted by the regional and national governments.
